My 2 most important concept art contributions from A (conception) to Z (finalization). Early on, I proposed something that I called "Hackscan" which was supposed to be a livestream virtual mission simulator for the protagonist. However, the project evolved quite a lot during development due to a few technical challenges and we could not follow my initial vision.
An unexpected challenge was to re-design Adam Jensen, again after so many years, I had to adjust his silhouette to fit the top down POV (shorter coat, smaller head and less details), and it was also fun to work with JJB and the Eidos executive team.
My final paintovers/feedback on the final model (made by E. Mayel and animations by E.Jarvis).
Here are some of my early visual development ideas/paintovers... The graphics were originally meant to be much more complex, glitchy and interesting before we were asked to add a UGC, between the new tech-art constraints and our time/budget/team we decided to take a more minimalist route... A big thank you to the Env.art team for their resilience and adaptiveness.
The art & design teams still did a great job, it is a cool and challenging puzzle game!
Some NPCs and familiar faces from the amazing Deus Ex universe!
I have tried my best to update and adapt the design of the original DX robots. But unfortunately, we had to keep the Walker consistent with his DX: MD cousin... which I think looks like a pale version of ED-209 (constraints of working for a franchise).
And yes, most of my creative time was spent on doing paintovers... which still beats the endless production meetings, the boring life of an AD :)
I was the Art Director of the 3rd installment in the Award-winning GO series (soon after Lara Croft GO was completed) and I had the chance to revisit the incredible cyberpunk universe of Deus Ex. A big thank you to the whole team, it wasn't an easy project (niche license, nice genre, especially in mobile, and a limited marketing campaign) but we made it!
